The Canadian
Community Newspapers Association is pleased to present
its 86th National Convention in partnership with the Alberta
Weekly Newspapers Association. The 86th National Convention
will take place June 1-4, 2005, in Banff, Alberta, and will
be attended by industry leaders and senior managers from
community newspapers across Canada.
This year's theme is "What's Next?" Community newspapers are putting
their best foot forward, and finally, the advertising world is
taking notice. ComBase, Community Media Canada, Verified Circulation,
Market Analyzer—progressive
steps that are positioning the community newspaper industry as
the "it" medium and leveling the playing field in the
media marketplace. But are we there yet? What challenges and opportunities
are still to come? Join us in Banff as we explore what's next for
this growing, vibrant sector.
A federation of seven regional newspaper associations, CCNA was
founded in 1919 as the Canadian Weekly Newspapers Association
(CWNA), and held its first convention in 1920. Today, the CCNA
represents a membership of more than 700 community newspapers,
which are primarily English-language publications.
